A Yamaha Pianos Promotional Recital
 
 
Please join us for the first concert in our Spring/Summer 2010 series of Lunchtime Music at our Wardour Street store on Thursday May 6th at 1pm where we feature Reinis Zariņš, currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music.
 
Presented in association with Yamaha pianos, these recitals provide a wonderful opportunity for highly gifted young artists to perform at an excellent venue. The series also gives our customers an insight into the extraordinary wealth of talent being nurtured in our conservatoires and the unique characteristics of Yamaha Concert series pianos.

The Artist:
 
Reinis Zariņš - (Piano) began his musical studies in J.Mediņš Music School, continuing in E.Dārziņš Special Music College (Latvia), J.Vītols Latvian Music Academy and Yale University School of Music.
 
He has won prizes in eleven international competitions; among them first prize in B.Smetana International competition (Czech Republic), Jacques Samuel Piano Competition (UK), and “Brother and Sister” piano-duo competition in St.Petersburg, Russia. His main tutors have been Boris Berman, Raffi Kharayanian and Renē Salaks; other important influences have come from such distinguished artists as Claude Frank, John Lill, Pascal Nemirovski, Peter Frankl, Ann Schein, Jesse Levine, David Gier, Tokyo and Vermeer string quartets, to name just a few.
 
In 2007, Mr. Zarins toured in Europe as the winner of New Masters on Tour, performing recitals in Amsterdam Concertgebouw, St.Petersburg’s Glazunov Hall, Bratislav Philharmonia, Diligentia den Haag and others. During summers, Reinis has participated in some of the major chamber music festivals – Norfolk, Masterworks, Crescendo, and Holland Music Sessions, leading to recital performances for those festivals.
 
Reinis has given recitals and performed with orchestras throughout Latvia, as well as Lithuania, Estonia, Germany, Ukraine, Russia, United Kingdom and both coasts of the United States. He is the recipient of E.B.Storrs, B.Simonds, G.W.Miles, S.& D.Adams and H.Day scholarships. Also, he has been awarded the C.S.Miller and E.Parisot prize while at Yale School of Music.

This performance is free of charge and will take place in the Recital Room of Yamaha Artist Services Europe (London), situated within the historic Piano Hall at Chappell of Bond Street’s West End store.  The recital will commence at 1pm.
