Choose your piano and where you'd like to play!
Welcome to your personal 'Piano Room'! The DGX-660 provides a dedicated virtual space where you can choose from a variety of pianos and acoustic settings, creating your personalised practice or performance environment. Simply select your desired piano, then choose an acoustic space from a plain room to a club stage or a concert hall. You can even adjust the position of the virtual piano lid!
Play and sing!
Connect a microphone to the DGX-660 to sing along with your own playing or with pre-recorded Karaoke song files from Yamaha Musicsoft, You can view lyrics on the DGX-660's display and hear your vocals and backing mixed perfectly together through the built-in speakers. Three convenient presets are provided for different vocal performance situations. You can even create and save your own original microphone settings including professional reverb and chorus effects.
Go wireless with your iOS device
The optional Yamaha wireless adaptor can stream audio and MIDI to and from your iOS device with compatible music apps. The Chord Tracker App takes full advantage of this technology, allowing you to play back songs from your iOS device song library wirelessly through the DGX-660's speaker system. Chord Tracker analyses the audio songs stored in your iOS device and then displays the chord symbols for you. It can even create an XF song file that plays back the chords of the song using the DGX-660's built-in accompaniment Styles.
A world-class concert grand piano sound with Pure CF Sampling The Pure CF Sound Engine in the DGX-660 brings together many years of acoustic piano making heritage combined with modern sampling techniques. Yamaha is renowned for its digital piano technology and you can hear this in the Voices that utilise the Pure CF piano sample. The sound of a Yamaha CFIIIS 9' concert grand piano is faithfully reproduced, producing incredible dynamics and expressiveness, making the DGX-660 an instrument worthy of the Yamaha name.
Experience authentic piano touch The Yamaha Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) 88-note keyboard features a weighted action with heavier touch at the low end and lighter touch at the high end to faithfully replicate the feel of an acoustic piano. For the aspiring pianist, practising on the GHS action builds the proper finger technique and strength needed for performing on an acoustic piano.
Damper Resonance Damper Resonance digitally reproduces the sympathetic vibrations created by the strings of an acoustic piano. When the damper pedal is used in a performance, other strings add resonance to the notes you play until the pedal is released.
Score and Lyrics Display The crystal-clear LCD can be switched to display score or lyrics, showing you the music notation for the MIDI song that the DGX-660 is playing. The score can be displayed for both the built-in songs and for songs downloaded to a USB device from Yamaha MusicSoft. You can also display the music for the songs you've created on the instrument.
Live! Cool! and Sweet! Voices Authentic guitars, lush strings, punchy brass and more... The highly acclaimed Live!, Cool! and Sweet! Voices feature a unique blend of long, stereo and multi-layered samples that capture the essence of each instrument, right down to realistic resonance, expression and vibrato.
USB Audio Recording and Playback Record your performances or MIDI songs in uncompressed, CD-quality audio (WAV format) to a USB flash drive using the built-in Audio Recorder. You can then copy your songs to your computer to make CDs, share them over the Internet or transfer to your portable music player. You can also playback uncompressed WAV files stored on a USB flash drive.
Simple Chords... Professional Sound! Smart Chord makes you sound like a pro, even when you've just started to learn how to play a song. With a single finger of your left hand, Smart Chord will create entire chords from simple Pop triads to complex jazz 7th and 9th chords. Accompaniment Styles create the rest of your virtual band while you get straight to the music!
Find the right style easily with Style Suggester Style Suggester helps you find Styles quickly and easily. When you know how the music should feel, but are unsure which style to choose, simply play a few notes in the rhythm of the song you want to perform and Style Recommender will offer a list of matching Styles to choose from.

Questions & Answers
Question: Does the DGX-660 have buttons that change the 'voice' from grand piano to harpsichord and classical organ? Thanks, Chris
Answer
Hi Chris, thanks for getting in touch. The DGX-660 includes a large range of sounds (including harpsichord and classical organ) - these can be selected either by scrolling through the different sounds (using the scroll wheel, category jump buttons or + and - buttons) or by typing in the corresponding number for a sound using the number buttons.
Question: I've just turned 60 and I'm a total beginner; this would be a big purchse for me so I'm a little nervous..!
Answer
Thanks for the question! We've designed the DGX-660 to be a great instrument for beginners and established keyboard/piano players alike. It has a fully weighted keyboard and a realistic piano sound - making it ideal for beginner pianists (the key action essential both for building muscle strength and developing piano technique).
But it also has a host of keyboard functions which - if you want them to - allow you to use different sounds, layer sounds together and play along to backing accompaniments (it's like having your own band ready to play virtually any style of music with you, whenever you want). The buttons are generally intuitive - and you can learn what each one does at your own pace (for instance, if you only want to use the DGX-660 as a piano to begin with, you need only turn on the power button - no other buttons, perhaps aside from the volume control, are necessary).
Virtually everything you need is included in the box - as well as the DGX-660 itself, we include a sturdy piano stand, sustain pedal (which can be upgraded later on, if wanted), a music rest and a UK mains power adapter.
Question: What is the weight of this instrument? Does it have to sit on the included stand? Moira
Answer
Hi Moira, thanks for getting in touch. The weight of the DGX-660 piano without its stand is around 21kg; with the included stand, it's around 29kg. If the included fixed-height stand isn't suitable, we'd suggest either a double-braced height-adjustable X stand such as the Quiklok QL646, or a height-adjustable 4-leg stand such as the Quiklok WS-650:
Question: Can the DGX-650 and DGX-660 be used as a home keyboard? What are the main differences between the DGX, CVP and Tyros ranges?
Answer
Yes, the DGX-650 and DGX-660 are effectively home keyboards but with fully-weighted, full-length piano actions. The majority of keyboard functions found on our PSR-E Series are included on the DGX Series.
The Tyros5 and PSR-S970 models are the pinnacle of our home keyboard technology offering even greater sound quality and functionality in terms of sound design, recording, performance tools and connectivity.
The CVP Series features our Clavinova piano actions, piano sound engines, cabinets and speaker systems which are combined with the keyboard capabilities found in the Tyros and PSR-S Series (which are far more advanced than those in the DGX and PSR-E Series). The CVP-709 is the flagship of the CVP Series (and features the majority of functions found in Tyros5 plus a touchscreen interface).
