Tunes from The American Civil War worked into a medley, including Marching Through Georgia, The Battle Hymn of the Republic and Dixie. Marching songs were sung to boost morale on both sides. On occasions when the armies of the North and South were camped within earshot they would sing songs in an attempt to demoralise the opposition before battle the following morning.
