Overview

The ‘Sunrise,’ Haydn’s fourth quartet in the op. 76 set, gets its popular name because, in the opening Allegro, the first violin rises slowly out of the sustained harmonies of its accompaniment to announce the principal theme—just as the sun rises out of the East, as it were.

The Soloist is accompanied by an ensemble.
