Naufal Mukumi - (Piano): Born in 1991 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Naufal Mukumi began his piano studies at the age of seven. He was accepted into the class of Prof. Tamata Afanasievna Popovich at the age of nine, and began performing in annual concerts with the Symphonic Orchestra of Uzbekistan.
During his time in Uzbekistan he won several prizes in international piano competitions and festivals around Russia, Italy, France, Germany, Lithuania and the USA.
At the age of sixteen, Naufal left Uzbekistan and entered the Purcell School of Music to study with Tessa Nicholson. In 2008 he was selected to perform Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Purcell School Orchestra at the Watford Coliseum, and in 2009 he was a finalist at the International Franz Liszt Competition in Weimar.
Naufal has completed his third year as an undergraduate at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance studying under Deniz Gelenbe. He is supported by the Boise Foundation Scholarship 2011, Beverley Creed Scholarship, Elsa and Leonard Cross Scholarship, Gladys Moore Scholarship and a TCM Trust Scholarship.
He has performed as a soloist in Hindemith's Clavier Concerto with Brass and Harps with Trinity Laban Symphonic Brass conducted by Chris Houlding. Naufal has performed solo recitals in venues such as St Martin in the Fields, Kings Place, St James’s Church, St Alfege Church, Wigmore Hall, Millennium Centre, Steinway Halls and Blackheath Halls, and has represented Trinity Laban in the Lichfield Festival.
In the past year Naufal has won the Eastbourne Symphony Orchestra Young Musicians’ Competition and performed Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the orchestra as a result. He has toured throughout the United Kingdom, and in the past month has performed in Poland in the Polish Radio Lutoslawski Concert Hall and the Piwnica Society.
