With exclusive construction features and the finest materials and craftsmanship, LS36 is a small bodied guitar that sounds huge.
With it’s small folk-size body, the LS36 design emphasises the mid-range response of the guitar for an outstandingly clear and precise sound, perfectly suited to intricate playing styles and detailed fingerstyle playing. Thanks to he finest solid Engelmann spruce and solid Indian rosewood, finished with an ultra-thin Nitro-Cellulose finish for maximum resonance, and exclusive L-Series features like Square Frame Side Bracing, an enlarged ‘C’ shape neck block and 5-ply laminated ‘V’ profile neck, the sound of the LS is superbly balanced with strong, yet subtle, low-end and sparkling highs complementing the smooth, controlled midrange.
Featuring Yamaha’s exclusive ARE treatment, the top of the guitar is pre-aged, physically replicating the changes that an acoustic guitar undergoes with time and making the LS36 sound like it’s been played for 15 years, straight from the box.
Top of the line construction and materials are joined by suitably appointed cosmetics with hand-inlaid abalone and flame maple giving the 36 models stunning looks to match their incredible sound and feel.
A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement)
A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement) is an original wood reforming technology developed by Yamaha.
Through precise controll of temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure, the molecular properties of the wood can be manipulated into a more acoustically ideal condition, similar to the molecular characteristics of woods in instruments that have been played for years.
New Designed Bracing Pattern
A modified non-scalloped bracing design retains the L series’ characteristic bright tone while enhancing low-end tone.
High Comfortable Traditional Neck Profile
A re-evaluation of string spacing, string height, fingerboard binding, and neck taper led to a new neck shape that better fits today’s raditional players. The new design offers stable grip and smooth playability over the full length of the neck.
The 5-ply neck of mahogany and rosewood designed with a volute at the headstock plus a double action adjustable rod creates a neck with excellent strength and stability.
This traditional Yamaha body style is known for its rich volume, a wide dynamic range, and excellent tonal balance. Beautiful, transparent tone is the result of a design that has been refined by artists around the globe.
Lacquer finish is carefully applied in multiple layers using a skilled technique. This approach results in a finish that does not inhibit the wood’s ability to vibrate delivering outstanding response and rich tone. Specially formulated to bring the best in tone, this lacquer (nitrocellulose lacquer) is used on the L56 and L36 lines.
