Released in early 2014, the new Absolute Hybrid Maple Series of drums is the result of three years intensive work to create drums that could perform at all dynamic levels in response to the drummer's touch. These drums offer great tonal flexibility, due to their Hybrid Maple shells, letting you play what you want to play.
When Yamaha set about designing the Absolute Hybrid Maple drums, they started with the most important aspect of a musical instrument, the sound. They wanted a drum that could be played in any particular style that incorporates an extraordinary degree of expressive power. They then considered other characteristics of a great drum. It should feel good to play, it should be a thing of beauty to the eye, and has to withstand the rigors of years of performance.
