Questions & Answers
Question: What is the depth of the neck on the F310, and what kind of shape is the neck?
The F310 has a 'C' shape neck which has a depth of 22mm at the first fret and 24mm at the 10th fret.
Question: Is the F310 guitar suitable for finger style playing?
Thank you for the question. We've designed the F310 with a 43mm nut width; as with all our steel-strung acoustics, there's no problem playing finger style.
We'd recommend also looking at our FS800 Series acoustic guitars. Models such as the FS800 and FS830 feature a solid spruce tonewood top (so the tone is much warmer and richer compared to the F310) and also have a concert-sized body shape (which has slightly smaller dimensions and a narrower mid-section). As a result, the sound of the FS800 Series models is a big step up from the F310 and also retains far more detail - making these guitars ideal for finger style playing.
Question: Is there a left-hand version of this guitar?
Generally speaking, for those just starting to play guitar, we usually encourage both left-handed and right-handed beginners to use a standard ('right-hand') guitar. As both hands are equally active when playing, the vast majority of left-handed beginners experience no more difficulty than a right-handed beginner would.
For left-handed players who have learnt and used left-hand guitars for some time, we'd suggest our higher-specification FG820L or LL16L ARE acoustic models:
Question: Can I plug the F310 into an amplifier?
The F310 is a fully acoustic guitar and doesn't have any pickup or output. It is possible to use something like Seymour Duncan's Woody sound hole pickup to get a signal you can amplify - but the F310 hasn't been designed with amplification in mind and your results may vary.
Instead, we'd recommend looking at our wide range of electro-acoustic guitar models:
Question: What wood is used on the F310 guitar?
The F310 uses spruce for the top and meranti for the back and sides. Whilst the F310's tone won't be as warm as our guitars which feature solid tonewoods, the F310 still offers a good sound and good playability - at an affordable price.
For a warmer, richer tone and even better performance, try our FG Series models - which all feature solid tonewood tops:
Question: Which is better - the F310 or the F370?
Thank you for the question. Whilst both the F310 and F370 are great guitars for beginners, the F370 features higher-end woods for the back and sides to create a warmer tone.
We'd strongly recommend also looking at our FG800 Acoustic Guitar. This model features a solid spruce top - offering significantly improved tone compared to the F310 and F370.
Question: Is this guitar suitable for a 7 year old?
Thanks for the question. The F310 is suitable for most 7 year olds; however, we also make our JR1 and JR2 acoustic guitar models - these are three-quarter size models which some children may find more comfortable.
Question: Can you use the F310 guitar with an amp?
Out of the box, you can't use the F310 guitar with an amp. If you're looking for an electro-acoustic guitar, we'd strongly recommend looking at our APX, FGX or FX Series guitars - all of which plug directly into an amplifier and offer a superb amplified tone:
Question: Can I down-tune this by half a step?
You shouldn't have a problem tuning the F310 down a semi-tone (so that the 'E' becomes an 'Eb' et al).
For an acoustic guitar which sounds even warmer and richer, try our FG800 models - all have solid spruce tonewood tops which, combined with the FG800's internal design, sound incredible.
Question: Does this guitar come with any guitar picks or a guitar case?
The F310 is available either by itself without any accessories or as part of a guitar package - we have a variety of packages available which include a soft case ('gigbag') and at least 3 plectrums:
Question: Does the F310 have buttons so I can attach a guitar strap?
We've included a strap button on the far end of the F310's body; usually, an acoustic guitar strap will have a loop for where the neck meets the headstock rather than using a strap button this end of the guitar.
