Kept In The Loop - Making The Most Of Chord Looper On PSR-SX900

One of the newest features on the top model in our arranger keyboards is the new Chord Looper. This is great news for musicians of all kinds, not just keys players. This is incredibly useful for all those singers, guitarists, and any other instrument you want to accompany.

It’s super easy to use too!

1. Find the Chord Looper buttons on the panel - they’re conveniently just above the keys to the left of the screen.
2. Press SYNC START on the Style Controls.
3. Press REC/STOP and start playing. The Style will start when you play the first chord.
4. Press START/STOP on Style Controls when you’ve finished. You’ll only need to play the sequence once.

You’ve got your first Chord Sequence! While the style is playing, hit the ON/OFF button and away you go. Keyboardists can play the keys like a piano with the chords cycling in the background, guitarist, singers, and other instrumentalists can sing and play, safe in the knowledge that PSR-SX900 has got your back covered on chords.

But wait… What if the chords change for the chorus? Or there’s a middle section? Fear not, press MENU and you’ll see CHORD LOOPER in there. Tap on it. You’ll see 8 slots there, all waiting to be filled with your chord sequences.
Just hit MEMORY and park your first sequence in the first slot. Do the same for each section of music. You should now have chords for your verse, chorus, middle eight, and any other section to your song. While the Chord Lopper is switched on, just tap the section you want to switch between sequences.
If that’s not enough, tap SAVE at the top of the screen and you can store these 8 slots as a Chord Looper bank, so can have loads of chords store in the keyboard.

Timesaving tip: Rock was built on three chords, right? Here’s the great thing about Chord Looper - it’s not tied to the style. You only ever need to store the sequence once and you can use it for any style you like!

What if I don’t know the chords to my favourite tune? If you’ve got an iPhone there’s a whole library of songs already in your pocket. Head on over to App Store and get our Chord Tracker App. This handy app can look at a song in your iTunes library and then work out the chords for you. Not only that, but it’ll recognise where each new section falls and colour code it! Pretty cool in itself, but what if you could save a ton of time by sending all those chord sequences into the PSRSX900 Chord Looper? You can! Connect your iPhone up via USB, highlight up to 8 bars and select SEND TO INSTRUMENT. It’ll look like nothing’s happened, but tap MEMORY and one of the 8 slots and voila! Instant chord sequences from your iTunes track.

So, for all those PSRSX900 owners out there, I hope these tips have opened up a few new possibilities and saved you time and hard work. For anyone looking for their next gigging keyboard, or something to jam along to your favourite tracks to, take a look at all the other great features that’ll make this your perfect musical partner.
