48-note polyphony allows for the performance of complex passages without dropped notes.

Powerful 6W + 6W amplifiers with 12 cm Bass Reflexed speakers

6W + 6W amplifiers drive the high-definition 12 cm Bass Reflexed speakers, offering stunning clarity and detail.

Real-time controls - Assignable real-time control knobs, DSP Effects, and Pitch Bend

Two assignable, real-time control knobs let you filter and adjust your sound just like an analog synthesizer.
10 brand new DSP effects can be assigned and controlled by the knobs for dynamic and expressive live performance.

The Pitch Bend wheel adjusts the pitch of the sound bringing voices like the Guitar, Sax and Trumpet to life.

Connectivity with audio and MIDI capabilities

The PSR-E453 features audio transfer through the USB TO HOST terminal*. You can record your performance to your computer or smart device.

Connecting to your iOS device adds a new dimension of MIDI control with apps.

Connect an external audio player to the AUX IN jack and you can play along with your favorite tunes. The built-in, advanced Melody Suppressor lowers the volume of vocals and melody lines of the original recordings, leaving that part open for you to play**.

*For iOS device connection, refer to the "iPhone / iPad Connection Manual"
**Depending on the song, the volume of the melody part may not be affected.

USB Storage - USB TO DEVICE terminal

USB TO DEVICE terminal on the instrument lets you load and save your settings and songs to a USB flash drive, as well as transfer data from your PC.

Pattern Creation - Pattern function to create your own grooves - 25 patterns

The Pattern function puts a wealth of powerful loops and beats at your fingertips, allowing you to instantly create dynamically varied music on the fly like a DJ. And, for even more authentic performance, try the Crossfade and Retrigger functions.

Tap into instant inspiration with the Arpeggio function, which has been improved for smoother playability. Hold Mode and Allocated key-range free your hands, allowing you to improvise over the pattern. The 150 Arpeggio patterns adjust and morph around the notes and chords you play on the keyboard allowing for almost limitless creativity.

Questions & Answers

Ask a Question:

Thanks for the question. We've included an Auto-Accompaniment mode on the PSR-E453 allowing you to play with chords (usually with your left hand) and lead (usually with your right hand).

Thank you for the question. The PSR-E453 is Core-MIDI compliant (class-compliant). On a MacBook Pro (running a modern version macOS) or iOS device (such as an iPad or iPhone), MIDI and audio connections will be automatically established for use in software such as Cubase, Logic, Garageband and Pro Tools. (Drivers are required when connecting to a Windows computer.)

Thanks for getting in touch. The PSR-E453 is certainly capable of this - it has some great sounds including cello and string ensemble sounds. It's straightforward to use and can be used standalone with its built in speakers. The PSR-E453 doensn't have dedicated main outputs - to record into a 12-track, you'd need to use the headphone stereo socket as the output. This should work but you might need to check you can still monitor the sound through the 12-track recorder (plugging into the PSR-E453'sheadphones socket will mute its speakers).

The PSR-E453 has a bigger brother - the PSR-EW400. As well as the headphone output, this model also has dedicated Left/Mono + Right outputs, making it easier to connect to a 12-track or mixer in either mono or stereo (we strongly recommend using two tracks, panned hard-left and hard-right, to make a stereo recording). It also has a far more realistic piano sound and more keys - 76 compared to 61 on the PSR-E453. That extra octave can be very handy for creating rich string ensemble and pad backdrops. See below for a link to the PSR-EW400.

It might be worth also looking at something from our music production range. Our MX and MOXF Series synthesizers will generally have far superior sound quality (ie more realistic, clearer, more responsive) with synth engines and wave data taken from our flagship Motif and Montage models. They too have dedicated outputs (as the PSR-EW400 does) and MIDI/Audio USB connections (both the PSR-E453 and PSR-EW400 have this) so that connecting to a Mac, PC or iPad for recording can be done with a single cable.

The synthesis parameters can all be easily edited on the MOXF models - either using an iPad app or from the on-board controls, offering huge scope for making sounds entirely from scratch or customising a sound to suit the track.
