Talented artist, songwriter and founder of Write Like A Girl, Beth Keeping is one of the trio of talented new artists that won the opportunity to represent Yamaha Music London as a Music Ambassador for 2023 at the end of last year. Along with Bertie and Nina Fine, Beth was lucky enough to receive Yamaha instruments as part of her prize and been busy representing Yamaha Music London including performances on World Piano Day and International Women’s Day and taking part in the New Music Monday showcase at London’s prestigious The Ned and staging takeovers on Instagram.
Described as the UK’s answer to Taylor Swift, Beth Keeping began her career as a songwriter, travelling to Singapore, Ireland, and the USA to lend her writing skills to other artists. After gaining close to a million views on TikTok over the pandemic, Beth felt inspired to start focusing on her own music as an artist.
Beth’s music includes the song “Plane Tickets” which last summer became the anthem for thousands of solo travellers around the world with its honest and empowering lyrics about single life.
We checked-in with Beth recently to ask what her memories were of being one of the Headliner and Yamaha Music London winners last year.
“Winning was amazing like a dream! I never expected to win. The music business can be hard, so many no’s and pushbacks but winning the competition made me feel validated. It felt that the judges were saying “We see you, we see your talent.” It was great to be recognised for all the hard work and long hours put in.”
Beth’s effortless, clear voice perfectly embraces authentic lyrics telling relatable stories of love and life. Playing guitar and piano, Beth’s music draws influences from traditional country storytelling and colourful pop melodies to create a fresh sound that she calls “pop stories.”
Beth’s latest EP I still think about that moment is a collection of carefully crafted and dynamic pop stories about love, loss and nostalgia.
Beth’s music has gained places on prestigious Spotify playlists such as New Music Friday and New Pop UK, and now there’s new music in the pipeline! A new single called Bitter, which is all about not holding grudges and choosing to forgive is set to be released later this year.
Beth loves working, creating, and sharing her art. On Make Music Day which takes place on 21 June, Beth has created an exclusive video to get you started with lyric writing and will be sharing her song writing secrets with you!
