As we head into the last week of 2017, we've been looking back at what an incredible year it's been here at Yamaha Music London. We've had so many special moments - here are some of our favourite memories...
Through our packed programme of live (and free-to-watch) music, masterclasses and workshops, we were able to share the thrill and enjoyment of learning to play (or to rediscover) a musical instrument with thousands of our customers.
This year’s Make Music Day saw Yamaha Music London flying high with a class of London school children on the London Eye for their first guitar lesson. The excitement went stratospheric when the pupils were told they could keep their Yamaha guitars!
On National Learn to Play Day Weekend, we also gave over 600(!) free lessons to adults and kids, and hosted Learn to Be A Pop Star with singer-songwriter Nina Schofield instore. We even had our own exclusive Learn to Play Day anthem!
Plans are already underway for an even bigger surprise for next year’s Learn To Play Day weekend - make sure to put 17th and 18th March 2018 in your diary!
We are hugely proud of our education programme, helping schools to get the most from their stretched-budgets to ensure children don't miss out on the benefits of learning to play a musical instrument. Several schools have enjoyed class visits to the store and met our friendly and knowlegable Yamaha experts, many of whom are professional musicians.
We also took a group of students to the Royal Albert Hall to experience playing some of the most interesting musical instruments.
Yamaha Music London had the honour of welcoming a wealth of music artists from around the world.
This year’s line up included a brilliant mix of world-famous musicians and up-and-coming artists.
Famous names included Hiromi, George Shelby, David Campbell, Nick Capaldi, McGoozer, Josephine and the Artizans and many more.
Every genre of music has been heard instore on the Yamaha stage from Flamenco to Funk, Jazz to Hip Hopera and everything in between – even Silent Piano sessions thanks to our award-winning Silent technology.
We've also been delighted to meet so many of you out and about at festivals and shopping centres this year - from our stage at Country to Country at the O2, the UK’s biggest Country Music festival, to surprise performances from top artists at London's famous train stations.
We would like to give a special thank you to our customers, friends, music teachers and artists for their support and help in creating such an amazing year full of music.
