A Yamaha Pianos Promotional Recital
Please join us for the fourth concert in our Spring/Summer 2010 series of Lunchtime Music at our Wardour Street store on Thursday June 17th at 1pm where we feature the pianist Maya Irgalina, currently studying at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Presented in association with Yamaha pianos, these recitals provide a wonderful opportunity for highly gifted young artists to perform at an excellent venue. The series also gives our customers an insight into the extraordinary wealth of talent being nurtured in our conservatoires and the unique characteristics of Yamaha Concert series pianos.

The Artist:
Maya Irgalina - (Piano) is currently studying for a Master's Degree with Graham Scott at the Royal Northern College of Music having been awarded the Yamaha Scholarship.
While studying at the Royal Northern College of Music, Maya has won the Ryzhard Bakst Memorial Chopin's Prize. She also became a prize-winner of the Dudley International Piano Competition, performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto K595 with City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra conducted by Michael Seal.
Her undergraduate studies she did at the Belarusian Academy of music with Lilia Ter-Minasian, and graduated from there with honours in 2007. During her studies in Belarus, she was several times awarded the scholarship from the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus, which is given to a limited number of talented students.
Maya has been awarded many prizes at international piano competitions including the first prize of the "Pro-Piano Romania" competition (Bucharest, Romania, 2003), second prize of the “Maria Yudina” competition (St.-Petersburg, Russia, 2006), third prize of the “Alexandre Scriabine” competition (Paris, France, 2007), Grand-Prix and a special diploma for the best performance of Schubert of the "Europe-Asia" competition (Orsk, Russia, 2004).
In 2008 Maya studied the musical heritage of Polish composer Alexander Tansman at the Lodz Academy of Music with Anna Wesolowska-Firlej with support from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Poland.
Maya has collaborated with the musical association “Suoni e Pause” and has played several recitals in France and Italy with their support. She has also performed in Belarus, Russia, Poland, Great Britain and Estonia as both soloist and accompanist.
This performance is free of charge and will take place in the Recital Room of Yamaha Artist Services Europe (London), situated within the historic Piano Hall at Chappell of Bond Street’s West End store.  The recital will commence at 1pm.
