Please join us for the fourth concert in our Spring 2011 series of Lunchtime Music at our Wardour Street store on Thursday February 17th at 1pm where we feature the pianist Sam Liu, currently studying at the Trinity College of Music.
Presented in association with Yamaha pianos, these recitals provide a wonderful opportunity for highly gifted young artists to perform at a superb venue as well as offering an insight into the extraordinary wealth of talent being nurtured in our conservatoires. And there are few better opportunities to hear Yamaha’s stunning handcrafted Premium Pianos played at concert level in the UK.

The Artist:
Sam Liu - (Piano): Sam Liu was born in 1988, and has lived with his family in Vancouver, Canada, and began his piano study at age 12 with Grace Schmuecker and subsequently with Dietmar Schmuecker until he moved to London to study with Douglas Finch
Sam has won various awards such as the first prize of "Il Circolo" Competition at Italian Cultural Centre, Piano Transcription Competition, and had given recitals throughout UK and Canada including Yamaha Artist Service Europe at Chappell, “Ronald Stevenson at 80” event at St. John’s Smith Square, which he played a solo recital and a performance of Ronald Stevenson’s Piano Concerto No.1 in the presence of the composer. Sam has participated in many masterclasses given by artists as such Dina Parakhina, William Fong, Angela Hewitt, Leslie Howard, Joseph Banowetz, Anton Kuerti, and Murray McLachlan, and collaborated with artists such as Bettina Jonic and Leslie Howard. 
As a conductor, Sam directed the production “La Finta Giardiniera” with the opera company “Opera at Home”, which gave many performances at venues such as the Reform Club London and Greenwich Playhouse in 2010. Sam also conducted an orchestra of his own back in Canada and had several performances.
Sam frequently collaborates with his duo partner violinist Mansoon Bow, and they have performed throughout UK and with an upcoming concert in Osaka, Japan, featuring the complete Schumann Violin Sonatas.
This performance is free of charge and will take place in the Recital Room of Yamaha Artist Services Europe (London), situated within the historic Piano Hall at Chappell of Bond Street’s West End store. 
Final admittance to each recital is 12.55pm.
