Features
Uncompromising Quality and Maturing Acoustic Tone
Crafted with Yamaha's dedication to lasting quality, the B10 is built to enrich your musical life for decades. We oversee the entire production process, ensuring every component—from the soundboard to the action—meets our rigorous standards. The natural materials of this instrument mature over time, developing a unique and familiar character. The B10 offers a pure, clearly articulated sound and expansive resonance, inspiring you to play more and grow with your Yamaha piano.
Elegant and Space-Saving Upright Piano
The B10 features a timeless, elegant design that integrates effortlessly into smaller living spaces. This compact acoustic upright piano allows more people to experience the unique warmth and beauty of a finely crafted musical instrument. Thoughtful features, such as the easy-to-use music stand, ensure a convenient and focused playing experience. Choose the Yamaha B10 for a superb blend of performance, quality, and sophisticated design.
The Wide Music Stand
Wide music stand firmly holds large sheet music open in modal window. Extending the full length of the fallboard, the wide music stand makes it easy to place multiple scores – or even long, unfolding sheets – without the need to turn pages. The top surface is deep and finished with non-slip fine artificial leather, providing stability even for thick music scores, so you can focus entirely on your performance.
The Hammer
The hammers, which strike the strings to produce sound, play a crucial role in shaping the piano’s timbre. To achieve a clear, pure tone, the B Series employs a special method in processing the raw felt used in the hammers – a technique derived from our flagship CFX Concert Grand Piano. This process takes full advantage of the inherent superior elasticity of the felt, resulting in a sound that is remarkably clear, richly resonant, and sustained. Every melody and phrase, across all registers, emerges with vivid presence and expression.
The Soundboard
The soundboard is the resonant heart of the piano, and it has been redesigned to achieve a remarkably clear and spacious sound, despite its compact size. This results in a rich bass that supports both the melody and harmonies, creating a beautifully balanced sound where each register can shine. The soundboard features a curved structure known as the “crown,” and even slight changes to its shape can have a significant effect on the resonance of the sound. All B Series models feature five back posts to prevent the crown from changing shape under the strong tension of the strings, ensuring the soundboard maintains the ideal condition for luxurious resonance.
The Action Parts
The complex action mechanism of an upright piano, which transmits key movement to the hammers, is made up of over 60 precision parts for each individual key. To ensure smooth operation – a crucial factor in the instrument’s expressive touch and ability to produce the desired sound – Yamaha manufactures all action components in-house. Each part is precision-processed with extraordinary accuracy to an exacting tolerance of 0.05 millimeters and carefully assembled by our skilled craftsmen, to ensure long-term ease of playing. Even if maintenance is required, part replacement is simple, giving you peace of mind and many years of enjoyment with your piano.
The Frame
A piano’s frame must be able to withstand a total string tension of more than twenty tons. Beyond supporting this immense tension, the frame also has a profound impact on the instrument’s sound. Yamaha manufactures its frames at a dedicated piano frame factory using a "vacuum process" – becoming the first company to employ this technique in crafting some of the finest piano frames. Over this time, we have accumulated extensive knowledge on how factors such as casting temperature, material composition, and even the frame’s coating influence a piano’s acoustic characteristics. This expertise means that Yamaha is able to consistently ensure the reliable quality of every piano we make.
The Soft-Close Fallboard
Soft-close mechanism allows gentle closing of the fallboard open in modal window
